Notes from the Chair:

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to another season of Section IX Girls High School Tennis.  As coordinator and tournament director of the sectional tournament, I look forward to the competition our athletes bring to this year’s tournament.   Each of the 60 athletes that qualify for this tournament from the Mid-Hudson Athletic League and Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association, are to be commended for their achievement in training, dedication, and sportsmanship as they are the finest tennis athletes in the Hudson Valley.   I congratulate all athletes and coaches on your accomplishments this season as you prepare for the Section IX Girls Tennis Championships! 

 I would like to inform you of the following for this year’s tournament:

1. Sportsplex in New Windsor, NY will be able to host the Section IX Tennis Championships on Wednesday, October 24th and Thursday, October 25th, 2007.
2. Seven courts will be allotted for the championships with practice time available at 8AM each day.  Matches in singles and doubles will begin promptly at 9AM on both Wednesday and Thursday.
3. All players, coaches and parents are here advised that proper shoes are to be worn during play (no black sole shoes, unless tennis shoe specific).
4. Due to the lack of backcourt space making coaching difficult, one high school coach representing each athlete will be permitted to sit on court during each match.
5. Spectators may watch courts 1-3 from the café windows throughout the tournament.  Also, after completion of first round matches scheduled for court 4, spectators may watch courts 5-7 on court 4.  Chairs will be provided when court 4 becomes available for viewing.
6. Water coolers are provided on all courts and maintained daily.
7. All players are asked to keep the courts and café clean.
8. Parking behind the building will be provided as the front lot is reserved for members.  (Please be sure to remind spectators and bus drivers of this courtesy.)
