In-Season Qualifying Impact Statement

For the 2008 Section IX Girls Swimming and Diving season, Section IX has implemented, with the approval the Section IX athletic council, the ‘In-Season Qualifying’ methodology.
What this means is any athlete may qualify for the Girls NYSPHSAA State Swimming and Diving Championships (state meet) during the season; provided they accomplish the standards set by NYSPHSAA during a National Federation High School meet. Once accomplished, and verified by the section, the athlete is allowed to choose that event in the NYSPHSAA State Championships regardless of what events they swim during the Section IX Championships.
