ORANGE COUNTY INTERSCHOLASTIC
ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION
BOYS ICE HOCKEY BY-LAWS
Adopted December 1, 2004


1. The current year NCAA Ice Hockey Rule Book and the NYSPHSAA Ice Hockey Rules addendum will apply.

2. The following OCIAA rules and policies will apply:


a. The home team will wear white or a light colored jersey, visiting team will wear dark.

b. Home team will provide ice for contests.

c. Home team will provide pucks for game and warm-up.

d. Home team will provide adult scorekeeper and timer.

e. Each school should provide at least two adults for supervision.

3. All Orange County coaches will rate officials and send in the cards through their Athletic Director to the Athletic Coordinator within two weeks of the contest.

4. Unsportsmanlike conduct:

a. When a coach is ejected from a game please refer to NYSPHSAA Handbook # 27 Sportsmanship.

b. When a player is ejected from a game for fighting or unsportsmanlike conduct, the following action will be taken:

1. First Ejection – that player(s) cannot attend or participate in the next scheduled game.

2. Second ejection – that player(s) cannot attend or participate in the next two scheduled games.

3. Third ejection – that player(s) cannot attend or participate in any remaining scheduled games including sectionals or any higher level of competition.

c. The official who ejected the player(s) will notify the OCIAA Athletic Coordinator, prior to 12:00 noon the following day, of the name(s) of the player(s) and the type of infraction.

d. The coach of the player(s) who was ejected will notify his/her Athletic Director. The Athletic Director will then contact the OCIAA Athletic Coordinator’s Office to confirm that the player(s) will not be allowed to participate in that school’s next scheduled game or games as required above.

e. A player(s) who is ejected from a game, will not be allowed to be present at the site of any game that player(s) has been disqualified from participating in (home or away).

5. Championships

a. The OCIAA Boys Ice Hockey League will consist of one division.

b. The League will recognize a champion based on win/lose record within league play.

c. If there is a tie based on records, the following will be used to determine the league champion.

1. Head-to-head between teams tied.

2. Goals scored head-to-head between tied teams.

3. Fewest goals allowed head to head wins the tiebreaker.

4. Fewest penalty minutes accrued in head to head play.
