State Modified Report from October meeting – next meeting Friday April 4, 2008

  1. There will be a football survey that will be distributed shortly regarding the two wide-out experiment. The surveys will need to be completed and faxed back  to Brian Devincenzi at 677-2530 at the end of your season.
  2. Baseball/Softball – you can play 2 games in the same day twice during the season. The change is that you can play a doubleheader against the same team or play two teams, but you must follow doubleheader rules – only play 6 innings in each game.
  3. No overtime permitted in girls’ lacrosse

     4. “Multiple School Contest, Tournament Competition, Championships, Finals and Awards: Tournament competition is not permitted in the modified program.  No sectional team or individual championships are to be conducted.  No contest should be conducted with place awards or an order of finish among all the top competitors.  Championship playoffs on a team or individual basis are prohibited. Sections, leagues, divisions or groupings should not host an end-of-season final multi-school contest that can be construed as a jamboree, carnival or invitational tournament.  Multiple school contests can be conducted at the end of a season only if it is in a sport in which multiple school contests are regularly scheduled throughout the season and the final contest mirrors that of the rest of the schedule, thus the contest is not larger than all the others.  This may be true for individual and team sports, i.e. quad meets for wrestling, cross-country or track.  Team sport multiple school contests prior to the end of a season are permitted provided:

    • no participant shall compete in more events, matches or games than permitted in any other regularly scheduled contest in that sport, on that day
    • all handbook rules are applicable
